Around Their Little Town

This evening Mom, Elizabeth, Ruth and Steve ventured into the city to dine and see Tosca at the Vienna State Opera House.  Today, as a result, we stayed in town and experienced daily life as an Austrian.
Mom put her international driver's license to good use and took us to the local grocery store, Spar. We only got a few ugly looks, she did great!
You have to rent a buggy by inserting a 50 cent coin into the slot.  When you return the cart, you get the coin back.

Hot dogs for supper!

We also passed by Phillip's old kindergarten school and Lauren agreed to take me in and show me around.  I liked what I saw!
Each student gets a hook and area to store belongings outside the classroom...very clean and efficient use of space.
The students each have a bag under their symbol in the bathroom where they keep their extra change of clothes.

fantastic playground

The balcony on the classroom opens up to the slide!  You slide right down to the playground...super cool.

Here are a few photos I took of their apartment while Elizabeth and Mom prepared for the opera.

kitchen table
(Notice the benches in the photos of the eating areas, almost every table has at least 1 bench.  Mom and I like them a lot!)

We played with guinea pigs, ate hot dogs, and Emilie won Chutes and Ladders before bed.
