Frau Jaeger

Yesterday afternoon Ruth took us to see our temporary living quarters.  Ruth, an occupational therapist, worked with this woman's late husband and she graciously opened her guest house to us.  Renate Jaeger (left) and her grandson Sebastian welcomed us with drinks and toasts as custom in Austria.  We also enjoyed her house full of beautiful antiques.
Frau Jaeger reminds us of Nan, Fran's mom, very much.  See the resemblance?
Renate is a collector of interesting trinkets of sort.  These are collected from Catholic churches and were used for holding the holy water.
Teacup collection, possibly rivaling Jen Rembert's.

They have a huge garage with dozens of old motorcycles that her husband and son refurbish and sell.

She has several beautiful peony bushes.  Two of these flowers sell for $14 - $15 at the Fresh Market.

Sebastian showed us his "roller."

Finally, when we got back to Ruth and Steve's house last night, we sat down for our first meal together.  Ruth prepared traditional Austrian soup, meat loaf, and pasta salad.  This tasty food put us right to sleep!  Elizabeth and Mom stayed in Renate's guest house and Emilie and I slept at Ruth and Steve's.

  1. Correction: Steve Rembert's collection. And, unfortunately, it looks similar. Sigh. The burdens of a hoarder.
